christ thats a weird pool teamsheet! well done to cisse, i think he's actually not doing too bad in that wide position, for someone being played out of position, if he could finish would have had a good few goals from there! pity he generally cant though..well done to him anyone on this one, what type of goal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,482 ✭✭✭RE*AC*TOR

Goal by Djibril Cisse (Liverpool) drilled right-footed (bottom-left of goal) from left channel (25 yards).West Ham 0-1 Liverpool. Assist (pass) by Mohamed Sissoko (Liverpool) from left channel.

What the hell? garcia just on and 2 players sent off?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,482 ✭✭✭RE*AC*TOR

Hayden Mullins (West Ham) dismissed for violent conduct. Sanz Luis Garcia (Liverpool) dismissed for violent conduct.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Does that mean he misses the Cup final?

    Mike.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,595 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

What does that mean? Sending off? Anyone act watching and see what happened?

    <edit> Sent off:
    H Mullins 82

    Sent off:
    S Luis Garcia 82

thats crazy..if straight red then i guess he does miss the final, its a 3 match ban isn't it? effectively the rest of the season.

Unless they win on appeal? What's left?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Pool win the reds can be appealed, having not seen the incident I dunno if it would be plausible.

Mark Saggers on BBC five live thinks the ref was over the top. He calles it a dreadful decision, saying the ref was'nt well sighted.

    Mike.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,689 ✭✭✭shepthedog

what was he sent off for??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,942 ✭✭✭missingtime

Garcia was only on 4 mins so it must have been something nasty.

Or else there was 'handbags' that got out of control

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

Well if it was both for violent conduct I assume it was a scuffle and they were sent off for the same incident.

    Just heard on radio.

Apparantly Garcia elbowed the back of Mullin's head, bit of a tangle, then Mullins pushed/took a swipe at garcia, both miss final unless win an appeal.

The presenters on radio said they thought it was very harash, yellows at most, storm in a teacup kinda thing. Sounds like garcia went down like a sack of spuds after the shove though, hate seeing that..

Main reason the reds were taken out apparantly was cause all the players converged and made it look worse then it was.

That's nine in a row now, not bad run of results that..

Villa on Saturday and Man Utd have Chelsea

Makes you look back and think, United and Liverpool have both gone on these runs. If both had started the season with this kind of form, the title could still be up for grabs.

Maybe..but tis 9 in all comps atm. I do think Utd have 9 in the league or did till the Sunderland game right?

    m00t point.

Just need a Chelsea win and then there's even points albeit a game extra played :)

    Game on...ish.

saw highlights, liverpool 2nd string did pretty well (i know some 1st teamers played),
    well done by cisse,
thought the sending offs were a bit silly both of them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,942 ✭✭✭missingtime

Yea well done Cisse. Out of position and everything, but the second goal was a horrible strike.Straight at the keeper, just went through his legs.

had a ton on the pool to win 2-1 at 15-2,its the only time i would cheer for the pool

Nice to see Cisse getting a couple of goals!! I think people are unfair to him!! Yeah he hasn't scored but he is still young, and only after getting over an career threatening injury!! I would say if he can get on the score sheet in the last few remaining games he might just be staying unless a tempting bid comes in for him!

??? You've lost me anyway..lucky for pool that they won't have their most likely player to pop up with a goal in an important match? Especially with fowler cuptied..means have to go with Crouch and Cisse/Moro

cheers for that. Great play by Sissoko for the first! Great ball by Fowler as well for Cisse's second.

Just saw the sending off incident for the first time. Can't see them getting overturned, there was an elbow swung and hands raised to the face.

There's the incident for those who haven't seen it...

vicious elbow by garcia. nasty and malicious. Mullins reaction was warranted imo. just unfortunate that garcia is so short his hands caught him around the face. both players sent off because garcia acted like he'd been slugged one by iron mike in his prime

    bloody disgrace

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,482 ✭✭✭RE*AC*TOR

it was in my hole vicious and malicious, there are arms were caught together, and garcia was being pulled - it was a reaction trying to get out of the hold. If anything the most he did was elbow Mullins' arm.

Still he shouldn't have went to ground. For once I'd like to see a footballer take a punch.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 603 ✭✭✭shatners basoon

Id say if they took a punch they'd go straight back up trying to swing one back as opposed rolling around like a pig in mud. It was a silly scuffle, both deserved a warning but some refs are hard on these things, cant see it being overturned.

Their arms were caught because garcia was holding onto mullins. when garcia realised mullins was stronger and pulling away he spun 360 and stuck his elbow out. not imo a natural movement. and it was aimed at his back

if garcia had stayed on his feet and not dropped like the sack of **** he is, it would probably have been yellow for both. Diving to try and get your opponent sent off is despicable

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,482 ✭✭✭RE*AC*TOR

I wouldn't necessarily assume Garcia was doing all the holding. Can you tell if mullins hand is holding on to Garcia's shirt etc?

But I agree with the latter part - he should have stayed on his feet. Bad form.

just watched it there. would say yellow each would be fair, but can see the refs point of view, hard to give just a yellow when garcia went down like he did. Hate seeing that, looks terrible, this new pansy football thats creeping in. I had hoped it was gonna be largely restricted to chelsea. Garcia better cop on fairly lively.

Fingers crossed both get them put back to yellows instead for the final.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,341 ✭✭✭✭Chucky the tree

Mullins should be given a yellow. Garcia deserved a red for his diving alone. Hope garcias isnt over-turned, might teach him a lesson.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,759 ✭✭✭The Rooster

Luis Garcia deserves to miss the final for that. His elbow in the back was sly and malicious, and his dive was despicable. Mullins deserved a yellow card at the most - it would be a travesty if his red card is not over-turned and he misses the biggest game of his life over it.

While Garcia has certainly scored some great and important goals for us, I won't be sorry when he leaves for Spain in the summer as part of a make-weight in a deal to get someone else over to Pool.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

Breaking news on Sky Sports News....the appeal for the red cards have both been turned down.

Huge loss for the hammers, small loss for the Reds
