    Ok, so here's the story...

I've gotten two job offers for graduate IT jobs and contracts need to be signed by today for one of the companies.

    Offer A:

    25000 + 1200 signing on bonus + 0-10% performance bonus
    Galway
Java mostly, doing web applications with Oracle. also doing some .Net & C#.
Graduate programme with 4 months training, 2 months in-house project and 6 months client project.
Option to move back to Dublin after the year is up.

    Offer B:

    25000
    Analyst position
Java, .Net and C# with databases stuff.
    located in Dublin.

Which offer do you think has better prospects for the future? The work seems quite similar for both companies. I'd prefer not to have to move to Galway if I didn't have to, but I wouldn't mind it. What do you think is the better offer? Thanks for any advice!

Stick to Dublin. The extra bit you get would only cover your move.

the Galway job looks more productive and cannot but only help future prospects
the dub job looks normal and bland and boring
    Galway is cheaper
    Galway people nicer
Better atmosphere ,better scenery cant wait personally to get back to Galway so I'm kinda biased

I'd go for the Galway job.

Is it possible to PM me the name of the companies? I'm an ex-software developer, in Dublin, who now works in recruitment. I might know the companies, so might be able to advise you further!

Hmmm Option A seems very very familair to me. If it's a large mutilnational that begins with F and ends in Y.

I know a few people who went thru the same programme as you're being offered and we're extremely happy with the results. They work you pretty hard but apparently it's great expirience espicially the client project for 6 months. I think, though I could be wrong, that the first 4 months are classroom based.

Galway sounds the better option to me too. When I finished college 9 years ago (I went systems architecture path) any of my mates who went into development gained proficiency alot quicker via the graduate programs as opposed to those who got the on the job training.

I would get the option to move back in writing if that's what you prefer.

Well if the galway one is a big US financial company starting with an 'f' then should would go for that as they provide great training and really good opertunities

depends on you really. how would you feel about living there? (who doesn't like galway though?!)-galway would probably be the best option.

What industry are both of the companies in. What future prospects do they offer?

You don't give any useful informatoin other then a general overview of the job and the salary. If thats all your considering goto the one in galway. Lower cost of living, higher salary

You don't give much information about the Dublin based job but from what I know about the Galway company you are considering they appear to have a good well structured graduate programme.

Stay in Dublin....u know i'm right!! :) if u go to Galway we're only gonna show up, get u drunk, and get u fired (it'll all be liams fault!!) then u'll be out of a job and moving back to Dublin as a failure (thats even worse then being a sap!). :D
