Not having got round to getting myself one of them fancy hdtv things yet I've been trying to figure out exactly what connectors it is that you get supplied with the xbox360 for connecting to older tv's. Is it even possible to connect to a monitor or even a tv with only a coax input with what is supplied?

In the core pack you get a composite connector with a scart adapter and in the premium you get component (for HD) and composite connectors.

You need to buy a VGA cable seperate if you want to hook it up to a monitor.

So my best option is probably to get the extra vga connector and use my monitor then I guess seeing as my tv does not even have a scart on it. :(

I dont know if its possible to even hook up a 360 into a telly thru a coaxial input... its blasphemous!

you should definately go for the vga hd cable and use your monitor, thats what i got and its crisp and sweet :)

Well I got myself the 360 and all now works fine with the VGA cable...

...except its not possible to go online with Halo 2 whilst using the VGA cable aparently to donwload the updates needed. Does anyone know if there is a way to get around this seeing as I don't have another kind of TV to plugin to the xbox so that I can enable the downloads?

Or is my only option to just give away the copy of Halo2 with the rest of the stuff from the origianl xbox and wait for version 3 to come out?

Surly theres a tv with scart in a mates house/neighbours house? try putting in a different old xbox game, it *should* prompt to download an update, and that should sort it, but the same thing that happened to halo could also happen.... best bet is to find a tv with scart, connect 360 with av cable you got with xbox, download the update, connect backto monitor with vga, and enjoy ;)

I was hoping that there may have been another way, but as I had a very long ethernet cable lying around it just got thrown out the window and back in the next to find a tv with a scart connection so now I'm sorted. :)
