The third race of the Galway 5k Series took place Tuesday evening in Craughwell, with 73 participants completing the course in good times. The pre-race perception that the course was reasonably flat was quickly banished as runners gave their verdict on a challenging course at the finish line. Luckily the weather held fine for all but a couple of minutes during the race.

Course records fell to the leading man and woman (predictable since this was the first 5k in Craughwell!) with Ruaidhrí Geraghty GCH completing the race in 16:32 and Regina Casey GCH in 19:12. 2nd and 3rd placed men were Conor Moloney GCH in 17:09 and Ned O’Sullivan in 18:11, with 2nd and 3rd women being Anne-Marie Miskell GCH (20:04) and Jane-Ann Healy Naas (20:40).

Final race in the series is next Tuesday at 7.30pm in Dangan.

The winner on the night of the last 5k race of the series was Dermot Galvin of St. John's AC with Ruadhrí Gearaghty taking second and Conor Moloney taking third a whisker ahead of Martin Corcoran. Regina Casey once again romped home as first woman with Anne-Marie Miskell taking second followed fairly closely by Michelle Lynch who just held Josephine Gardiner at bay.

    Men
15:52 Dermot Galvin St. Johns AC
    16:12 Ruaidhrí Geraghty GCH
    16:28 Conor Maloney GCH

    Women
    19:16 Regina Casey GCH
    19:46 Anne-Marie Miskell GCH
    19:58 Michelle Lynch GCH

Full results of the race are on: www.galwaycityharriers.com

Overall a really successful series of 5k races with Ruaidhrí Geraghty performing the most consistently in four races at the front for the men, and Anne-Marie Miskell doing the same from the women's section.
