SATA hard Drive

    I have a penitum 4 motherboard (chipset 845) 1.7Ghz 400Mhz FSB and want to attach a serial hard drive, is it as simple as just installing a PCI Serial Controller and attaching the hard drive, making it the primary partition and installing the OS

    Yes - though keep in mind you are bound by the PCI bus which will inhibit the performance of the HD.

    A HD on your IDE controller would be better suited if performance is a concern.
