i was recently on this forum and was absolutly disgusted to find what was posted there. Have a look at this thread. Its not a bad topic for discussion. you would think it might promote some interesting arguments, but now look at the 2nd last post on this 1st page by "nugget". Am i the only 1 appalled by this...that people actually buy sh*t rappers CDs because they think they're cute, even admitting that they are rubbish but would buy anyway? is it really any wonder that the hip-hop industry is in the mess that it is today?

Actually, its just one person's opinion, and in no way does she speak for the whole of Hip-Hop's listeners. As well I'm not 100% she is serious, and if she is only showing her own personal ignorance and naivety.

i know it doesn't speak for all hip-hop listeners as is evident by most of the posting that can be seen on this forum. was just highlighting the fact that this kinda thing happens and as a result theres more weak music on the market

the two main reasons hip hip is crap these days :

    1) the phat beats that used to prevail ( i.e public enemy/ de la soul/ nwa etc ) has been replaced by tinny crappy beats

    2) they never SHUT UP about they're bitches, benjamins, rolexs etc.

get rich or die tryin' ? okeedokee

Just Blaze and 9th Wonder's consistently brilliant production now beats the three groups above over rated albums hands down imo. Also, using the above examples and ignoring the likes opf Premo,RZA,Havoc and Pete Rock shows a certain amount of Hip-Hop ignorance.

What were the last few Hip-Hop albums you bought?

I only ever listened to their debut, which wasn't too impressive to me to say the least.I should probably give it another listen

However, the production on PE's and NWA's debuts was weak-there is no escaping that.

yep i too saw this ... this is what glamourisation of hip hop has done to easly influanced minds.. No substance whatsoever.. Example... my mate refused to see John ledgend with me as he was 'rotten' but would DIIIIEE to see Usher cuz he is soooooo hot... Its prime example of the state hip hpo now... All about the cash the cars the power.. sure its great but most of it comes from commersialisim and glamorising drugs and guns and hot bodies achieved the majority of the time from Jail Sentences.. Respect to talib, common ect and( a bit of a contridication hear) kanye.. commercialisim aside he has an influencial presence with good outspoken and relevant views.. weather we like em or not... he reason to believe what he is saying is true and uses his **** positivly.. im trailing hear but... Ture Hip Hop needs to be revived and Fast or we will end up with mince heads dictating the culture...

Usher and John Legend are Hip-Hop?

I don't see how one persons opinion sugests that Hip-Hop is in a bad state.Last year there was plenty of excellent releases and this year is looking good as well.

Sorry I should have said... I was just using it as an example of how much image is relied upon .. Im not sayin that artists makin hits now are talentless.. I like a lot of comercial stuff.. I just have the cop to know that I like it cuz I like it not for how they look, what they have or how 'hot right now' they are...

i agree with orizio i thought pe and nwa had on the main terrible beats and modern day beats from timbaland/neptunes/cee-lo/swiss beats are much better
