No, there are not. It's an absolute disgrace. I actually asked a friend of mine who works in the tourist office that very same question and she said that the amount of people that come in looking for them and just being flabergasted that there are none is absolutely disgraceful. She said that over behind Mary I there's a student village that turns into hostel-type accomodation during the summmer, but that's all. All the places hostelworld.com lists are either guesthouses, b&bs or the Travelodge. With all the cheap flights coming in to Shannon thanks to Ryanair I think the city needs a hostel, it could really promote itself then as a place to go on a city break.

Now there's a business opportunity if ever there was one. I'd actually be fairly interested in setting one up if I could get the financial backing. Lots of financial backing.

No that's gone, it was used to accommodate asylum seekers for the last few years.

Thought there was one on John Street too on LHS as you go down towards the lights on the quay.

Supposedly the hostel on the hill next to LIT is going to be vacated by asylum seekers and turned back into a hostel this summer

hi - they're very few hostels in Limerick city or even in Limerick county but i would recommend the travellodge. its out the Ennis Road just over a mile or so. i stayed there with 4 friends, you can book an adult room (its meant for 3 but they pretty relaxed about sneaking in the extras!) its at 69e a night which is decent when u divide by 4, you could even squeeze in 5. there is a kingsize bed, a couch and a mattress. If its price you're looking at then its probably ur best option, they are loads of hotels around limerick and they're all lovely&posh but u'l be paying for it!

The Travel Lodge is out at the Coonagh Cross which is more like about 4 or 5 miles from the city centre not 1 mile. Will require a taxi to and from the city centre.

There are alot of B&Bs on the Ennis road too and they are alot closer to the city centre. There is also the Sarsfield Bridge hotel over head the Pier One bar which is slap bang in the city centre, not sure how much they charge but may be worth giving them a ring. As already mentioned Jurry's Inn is probably the cheapest hotel but availability can be an issue.
