  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,828 ✭✭✭unklerosco

Well u see im a triplet, a hansome one at that... ha..

Just took 3 pics n cut n past myself into one of em.. im sure there's a much better way of doing it... would be better if i was standing or sitting on a bench etc. as the couch changes shape depending on where u sit...

3 photos edited together.. the wall above you on the right in the first pic is off i think, the wallpaper doesn't connect right? perhaps?

sorry but these photos are so boring..

I cant even tell you what to improve... there just so lame...

Harsh I know, but the truth..

Go into a dark room, put your camera on a 30 second exposure, get a flash or a torch, and paint/flash your face into an image! Much more fun, and you can get some pretty mad effects!

Hahaha! That's class. God, you were bored, weren't ye? :D

Fair play though, they aren't exactly fine art, but at least you got off your ar$e and had a mess around. A lot of folk here are obsessed with only posting Magnum-quality pics (they think  ).

you people spend far too much time playing with yourselves tbh... I worry...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,828 ✭✭✭unklerosco

Hey, i'll not post pics of me playing with myself.. thats rosco time :p:p

I think the 2nd one is very cool - looks like your suspended or walking on air, full of energy. Best photo ive seen on this board in a while.

I love the spontaneous creativity here, wish more people could show it in their work.

Shrimp your showing you lack of creative ability/insight again. Are you sure you shouldn't have applied for a business course instead of your art college?

How exactly would you go about gauging ones 'creative ability'?... out of 5 perhaps?... nah, who am I kidding it'd have to be out of 10; more accurate that way.

    Ignorant.

I think you need some truth. It's called 'fun'. Hell the topic gives you a hint then the pictures themselves do also. They look like good fun.

Well done for trying something different Unklerosco. I like the colours in the second personally.

I tried the method Fajitas! mentioned - using the flash. I have an old manual one which I hand held. Nice fun ghost like affect. I've yet to try it again with a proper setup, I just tested it one night.

I thought the reason one's photographs were critiqued were to improve future photographing attempts? Not ways of photoshopping the existing photographs to something more pleasing. Once it's taken, it's taken. One can only learn and improve.

I like the first one. It's got that honest, "this is what people do when they're alone at home".. as in, they sleep, they make philosophical poses (I'm not alone in this, right? ¬_¬), and they sip things. Namely tea.
Technical adjustments I'd make would be, perhaps, adjust the levels a bit to give it more contrast, crop the sofa on the right out.. maybe crop the left a bit but I'm not sure if disrupting the lines of the door would be a wise decision. It'd be personal judgement really.

The other two photos.. I like less, but they've got the spontaneous thing going on, so they're not exactly boring. Only thing I'd change I think is that the background is rather busy, with all the stuff. Perhaps such a photo on a more subdued background would be better. Contrast is nice on the third photo, though. =)
As far as content goes, I prefer the third to the second, because it leaves you wondering why there's a guy flying through a study kind of a room...

Also, that's an amazingly comfortable looking chair. Good work.

I like the way u read into the photos... I never even thought about the 1st one like that.. I just legged it onto the couch before the timer went off..

The 2nd n 3rd had no planning.. I just set the camera to burst on a time n ran infront of it n jumped about.. Thats what i got, just used that room cause it has the best lighting....

    Cheers for the replys tho...

Here's two taken with the flash and no PP. I can see the faults but it was a bit of crack!

Hehe some of the photos arent too bad at all rosco, it wasnt a bad idea to try the 3 different shots in the first picture, but as Shrimp said they cant be improved..so you might as well throw the camera in the bin* :p

*only joking, keep it up :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 286 ✭✭Fridge

I think the first one would be really cool if the middle you was doing something else boring, not looking at the camera, posing. Cos it really is an insight into people being bored on their own.

    Hey there =)

Nice pics... I liked the third best, guess I'm a sucker for clean old B&W!
The first one, before I even notice the yous on the couch I'm looking at the room and thinking it's pretty bland, then the realisation of the poses kicks in and makes up for the chintzy wallpaper.

Saturation of the colour in the second is really bright but as mentioned, the BG's pretty busy. In that kind of setting I would look more towards creating a centre of peace or stillness amidst the (comfy-looking) chaos of the room... perhaps a meditation or even a handstand!

PurpleFistMixer took the words out of my mouth with the 'what people do at home, alone and bored' sentiment. The third one looks like you're listening to music and having a bit of a bop. Maybe a bit of air guitar next time, lol?!

Personally, I believe every photographer should drop to their knees and offer their souls to the God of Photoshop.
But then again, he's saved my skin so many times, I guess you'd say I'm biased!

    :p

you are such a gimp ...shrimp .... every single post i have seen of yours, creates a negative vibe ... did your parents touch you where you pee or something?

i cant believe your nerve in calling someone ignorant either .... can someone tell me how i can ignore his posts in future? ... is there a setting somewhere?

Back on topic .... fair play to you for posting your pics ... even if they werent technically great, they showed your mood at the time, so IMO they did there job.

What effect does the ignore option have? Does it mean that you won't see some posts or that some pms are blocked?

lads.. you're the biggest bunch of emotional pussys I've met. You're all supposed to be grown up adults and ur here getting hung up on my opinions (keep in my it's only photography) so much so that you actually feel the need to put me on your ignore list and then actually post a screenshot to vouch for that. Like you need to get verification of your opinion, I dont. You must be quite insecure...

On the other hand, I really dont care if you block me, you'll end up reading my posts, out of curiosity if nothing else.

reminds me of that ad for Dell PCs where the guy is going bananas til the wife catches him!

    good fun photos

I'd feel guilty if I ever blocked anyone's posts (unless they were a serious knob) but youcould use a bit more tact. I was in college with a guy who thought it was healthy to always express his honest opinion (which was also usually negative), and you'd have a hard time finding anyone who'd say a good word about him.

Ooh, is there a double standard there somewhere? Whoopsie...

Shrimp I think it's about time you grow up and started to take note of what's really happening here. If you think that people are blocking you bassed on your opinions, your missing something. Try and comprehand this, people are blocking you because they don't like you.

Want to be blunt? Your act like an asshole. I really hope for your sake that this "Shrimp" persona you project is different from you real personality. If it's not, your going to have a very sad, lonely and difficult life.

More honesty : I thought it was a bit odd the other day when you said in the "Post your Fav portrait" that you didnt have any portraits to share. But I can understand why..no one wants to be around you long enough for you to take their portrait.

As ender ender posted above, no one has any time for people like you. Not in their personal lives, not in school, and certainly not in a work environment, be that creative or otherwise. Like ender ender I've also worked with big headed creative types that think they know it all (some with a whole lot more talent than you have) , and I've seen them all fail miserably at what they try and do.

When you go to bed tonight, just as you feel yourself falling asleep, remember people think your an asshole, and ask yourself it that's how you want it to be?

    Thanks for the photos.

I'd love to post in this forum, but I've seen too many people have the pee ripped out of them, so I'll just enjoy my photos myself.

Nearly every thread that photos are posted in which welcomes C&C I don't think I've seen a positive comment..

When there are exeptionally good photos that are perfect, not a word from Shrimp.. But anytime theres something that could just do with a little confidence boost in a little "Just re-adjust your composition a little differently such as....." but now, it's bold and isn't helpful. No point in trying to lower someones self confidence, Shrimp..

You've been Harsh on people for a long time now Shrimp, even I saw that when I posted my first batch of Photos on here.. I thought it was just a once-over but after reading a few of your posts I have a different opinion of you now and wouldn't really take any notice of your criticism anyway as it's usually always the same...

That said, either change your atitude regarding making negative comments and throw in some useful tips (which I find could be a bit of a large task for you since I havn't realy seen anything positive said by you) or just take some time to think before you post. Or just don't criticise at all.

    Harsh, but true

Shrimp, you're supposed to be a grown up adult, why not act like it and just don't enter this forum instead of asking to be banned like a kid?

My apologies for staying off topic rymus. I'll get out of the thread now.
