Just looking for a bit of help for my sister. Shes setting us a Beauty Salon and is having difficulty thinking of a name thats not only suitable but if possible not been used before.

She thought of 'Skin Deep' but thats been used before (although shes not ruling it out).

    Any suggestion(s) would be great.

    Thanx in advance...

As long as she doesn't call it Uglies like Jade Goody did, what was she thinking?

    how about "Beauty Is....."

then she could use this for all her promo stuff

like "Beauty Is......such and such a treatment at such and such a special offer etc"....

    u get the idea

My male work colleague suggests "Beamz", "Cute" or "Sirens"

We've also been mulling over "Ugly Stick" or "Ugly be gone"

And "Lovelyz" is also pretty cool. You have to use the Z though.

There's a lot of tacky, cliched, crap names out there for beauty/hair salons. Maybe keep it simple & straight to the point like...

    "Beauty by [sis's forename]"
"Beauty by [sis's forename & surname]"

Unless of course she is called "Cruella" or "Bridget O'Dowdy" or something un-glamorous. Of course if her name is "Sheilagh-Margaret Morrissey-O'Sullibhean" it would cost her a fortune in signage. You get the idea though...?

I'm off back to the DIY forum where I belong... (I hope the lads don't get the smell of perfume off me after being in here.)

Whats her market? General? high class? what?

You need to think about who the target market is.

leftofcentre is true, no matter how universal your product is - you cannot
just "think of a name" wily nily. You need to know your target market indept.

    for example:

Jacintas Salon would be perfect for Northsiders.

    Southsiders will be more picky.

These 2 probably sound like she'll just be doing facials etc but what about about "About face" or "Face facts" ?

I take it there'll be some free treatment for whoever comes up with the name she decides to use :p

    Try googling it.
If using a PC in work/uni - take care.
It has something to do with "facials" if that helps.

No, give it some grandiose name like "The London Centre", unless some actual grand competitor already has that name
