Well, "It went dead" is a bit vague, if you mean it turned off and wouldn't turn back on again, then it could be the PSU, then again your whole PC's circuitry could have been fried with an electrical surge.. see if you can borrow a PSU from someone (or if you have the money and don't mind paying, buy a replacement from someone like www.komplett.ie) to see if the PSU is indeed the root of the problem (if it won't turn on after it 'died', my first suspicion would be the PSU frankly). Otherwise, if you just want to get it repaired in a shop (at the risk of your wallett), bring it in to either the Computer Centre or Quinn's Business Systems (I think that's it's name) opposite each other near the entrance to the Market Cross shopping centre from the Superquinn carpark side in Kilkenny.

When you switch it on, do you get any noise (fan starting, etc)?
Has any other stuff (TV, etc) in your house stop working?
Do any lights come on when you turn the power on?

what game was it? was it a heavy duty game? has the pc workked since?

also what graphics card do you have? the game might have pushed the card into overheating and it shut itself down. if thats the case, new psu a 400w or more would do.

no it was only a downloaded game 2mb in size.
what i mean by going dead is it went off on its own and theres nothing out of it now tryed turning back on but nothing.no everything else in the house works fine nothing was affected only pc.it never turned on at all after it went off.

nothing at all? no fans or lights?

sounds like it got fried not sure how, the PC and your sockets and plugs will cover you there.

might not be fried,as you say plugs fuses should cover that.anyway there was no surge as nothing else was affected in the house.

You're still not answering the question about the fan, it's an important factor.

well lads my heart is back to a normal beat now, found out the problem which was the psu is fecked.had another old pc lying about so i said i would see if it was the psu and it was,as soon as i had installed the psu from old pc she started up no problems so i am really quite relieved now.

mind you the psu that was in it was a 300 watt,so i am going to upgrade to a 400 or even 600 watt psu.anyone got any good places to recommend where i would get a good deal on one?.

also thanks for your replys was very much appreciated hawker.
