Pigheads heading over to Manchester in a few weeks for a couple of nights. Have tried looking for some accomodation at a reasonable price but I'm kind of struggling. Anybody have any ideas of somewhere pretty central thats cheapish and cheerfulish?
    Cheers(ish)

Try travel inn / lodge. Usually fairly reasonable, clean and pleasent. Quite a few of them centrally located. Try this one or the full list is on the bottom right hand corner. HTH.

The Travel Lodge in Ancoats in 5 minutes (safe) walk to the city centre.

If you book early there can be good deals with travelodge, they do a limited number of rooms for £26 per night.

I find that www.lonelyplanetexchange.com is good for accomm, going to Edinburgh next wk and got a great deal for a guesthouse there, for about half the price of the cheapest hotel on any of the websites i looked at...!

Finding it almost impossible to find a room for next week in Manchester. Damn those loyal band of travelling Celtic and their efficiency.

Found a Premier Travel Inn in Swinton. Does anybody know if this is far out from the City Centre?

Pighead thanks all for their help and suggestions. Can't for the life of me find a room for Tuesday night but got one for the Monday so we'll wing it from there. Cheers to all.

    Sorry, but...

There are no rooms available at Manchester Sportcity. We have checked availability at nearby hotels, but unfortunately there are no rooms available on the dates you require.

Bugger No joy there either I'm afraid. Thanks anyway John.

I just came back from this hotel, stayed there Sunday night, it's about 7-10 sterling from city centre if you use a cab company (hotel rings it for you) or about 12-15 sterling if you black cab it.

A taxi from the airport is about 20 sterling although that was a black cab, we got a private cab to it and it was I think 13-15 sterling.

The hotel is grand, two single beds in the twin (they don't do triple), the showers are great.

It's beside a bar which is where you get your brekkie (costs extra).

The only problem we had was noisy neighbours and the cleaning staff were loud the next morning but other than that I'd recommend it.

To get here by public transport, it's a train, change at Piccadilly and then bus it.

There's nothing really around by it so unless you are going to travel, be prepared to eat in Henry Boddingtons for however long you're staying. Food is nice though and apparently the toffee profiteroles are gorgeous!
