ok i have around 100-130 to spend on speakers was wondering is it worth it to get a really good set of 2.1 speakers like the Logitech Z-2300 Speakers 2.1 or get a set of good enough 5.1 speakers i will also be getting a sound card any ideas on that i dont think there is a need for the x-fi's i would persume to show them off you would need a set of fair speakers.

    tnx hope you can help.

I bought a 5.1 set of speakers for my PC, biggest waste of money ever! (even though i got them for €25 in ebay:p )

They are crap for games, Headphones are so much better and I even started using them for listening to music too.

I would get a 2.1 speaker setup, and a good headset;)

i have a set of Plantronic DSP 500's USB and they are great. i hear the Sennheiser 155 are good too. usb headphones are much handier if you have speakers as well as it makes changing from one to the other very easy.

a sweet setup would be logitech x230s (2.1) and a set of speedlink medusas.

That way you'll have the best of both worlds:D

Personally I'd go the other direction, go with the inspire 7900s and pick up a cheap audigy 2 somewhere, great for games, even better for music and movies.

i bought a set of Sony <insert numbers here> speakers from Petes. there's a newer model of the speakers out so i got them for €50, and they sound fantastic. i've yet to turn the knob up over 1/4 of the way, since the PC's in the livingroom...

but as someone else said, earphones/headphones are the best way to go for gaming

I never liked them a whole lot myself for gaming, but I don't need them ever since I got my Z-5500's.
Best investment I ever made! :D
