I am able to export emails from an individual folder to a file, but I want to export them all so i can backup my emails.

does anyone know how to export all my emails in one file and in one go?

It sbeen a while since I used Outlook proper (express you can just copy your .DBX files) but one way I know you could do it would be to create a Private folder (PST), copy your mails to it and backup the final PST.

I had to do this last week as I had to format and re-install windows.

While in Outlook Express, Go to Tools > Options > Maintenance You will then see a link called Store folder. Click it and you will see an address like:

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{000000000000}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Highlight and copy this address, open Internet Explorer and paste the address that comes up into the address bar (You don't have to be online to do this)

You will then see several DBX files named inbox.dbx deleteditems.dbx etc. Copy all these files into a folder for back up named "my emails" or whatever. Back it up whichever way you choose, DVD, external hard drive etc.

When it comes to but these files back on the PC after re-installing windows or even onto a new PC.

Go into outlook express and repeat the process of finding the Store folder address. Then open Internet Explorer as before and erase any files that maybe in there (providing you don't want them) and paste in the dbx files.

Close all open windows and open Outlook Express you will then find that your old email files are back in there now. If they are in a different order than before, go into inbox or outbox where ever the emails you want to organise are located and hit Received, From or Subject to organise them that way.

[EDIT] It is also a good idea to backup your address book and email account/s, all of which are fairly easy to do [EDIT]

Hope this helps your situation! :)

    cool beans.

all i had to do was select the optput file tye as pst and then select the indox and click the include sub folders checkbox.

but when i was looking in the folder with the pst files there appeared to be a Outlook.pst file.

suppose i could just copy this and it will have all the outlook data?

    ebackup

Backs up all your emails, account settings etc etc.

Great program. Its not actually being supported and developed anymore but you can still download it and it still works.

It's the easiest program if you want to backup your emails using outlook. none of this PST etc sh!te.

    enjoy

Download this from Microsoft.com. Works on Outlook 2000 and better.
