    I'm not familiar with the 5100, but on any Dell I've had the covers are just held on with plastic "hooks". If you unscrew and slide off the side of the comp - if you look where the plastic front meets the metal case there are usually plastic clips which you can push in with your finger to release the front panel. Once you have the front off it simple to remove the bay cover.

    Other wise just use a bit of brute force with a screwdriver to pop it off.

    Here's a link to the installation manual for your drive:
    http://support.necsam.com/Optical/NEC_DVD_CD_quickstartguide.pdf

    See pages 5 and 6 for setting the jumper for master or slave.

    If you want to use the drive for playing music or DVD's then you'll have to connect the audio cable.

    All drives has a set of jumpers on the back either the manual that came with it or etched onto the drive itself should label them as the following or something similar;

    master [m]
    slave
    cable select [cs]

    With a master/slave setup one drive must be set as master and one set as slave simply set the jumpers accordingly.

    Alternatively if you set both drives to cable select the drives will sort themselves out so to speak so no need to set a master or slave.

    The analogue audio to sound card cable is no longer required the audio is transferred over the IDE bus.

    Just as a side note. If you have a second ide bus (you should) connect the cd rom to that instead of a slave to the hard disk.

    ^^Normally sage advice but most modern motherboards no longer suffer the DMA step down issue from connecting a device with a lower mode of DMA support along side a device supporting a higher mode.

    That is as long as you have everything on an 80 wire conductor IDE cable so in short you should be fine hooking up any CD/DVD drive along side an IDE HD on any reasonably modern system.

    Of course older systems yeah it's best there to keep them separated.
