Hi folks,i ordered Sky digital last week and recieved letter today with confirmation date etc.
However it did state that i needed to have the box connected to my phone line as part of the installation.

I had Sky digital 2 years ago and did not have to have box connected to phoneline.
This time round do i really have to get it connected to phone line or what?
Id rather not,if i do need to ,will it interfere with my broadband in any way?
Also for what exactly do i need to be connected?

It won't interfere with the broadband, its so you can be tempted in to buying PPV stuff or ordering through QVCi or similar, and you can pay Sky an extra 35 quid or so once off to not have it. Its only for 12 months, though.

That and they don't really enforce it on single connections, only multiroom (where its permanent, not for 12 months)

    Cheers for that.
Well i ordered a box for 2 rooms,so you reckon they wanna force the issue?
If so screw that, ill stick to chorus with 2 boxes.

They will. Nothing about 'forcing' the issue, they'll just charge you two full subscriptions rather than the multiroom issue if the phonelines are disconnected.

Yes they do force the issue. Ridiculous really. You can see there point, but running analogue phone lines to it is dated.
However, my flat mate has multiroom aslo, wait for it, in a different house for the last two years. He got a letter, then a second one, he brought the box to the original subscription house, plugged it in, rang sky, left the box there for a day then brought it back to his own house. Never heard from Sky again, runs without issue at whatever the price is, approx €15/month all channels.

Well that is fraud, at the level of theft.
