I'm sure there's an easy solution to this, but I can't figure it out!

I have connected a keyboard to my laptop. The keyboard has a PS/2 connection, but the laptop has USB, so I am using a PS/2 - USB convertor.
Unfortunately, windows won't recognise the keyboard. Is there anything I can do about this?

It should recognise it, did anything popup when you plugged in the keyboard like
"New hardware found" down by the system clock? Check out your hardware in Control Panel-System-Hardware and see if there are any problems there.

not all keyboards will work with ps/2 -USB converters. the general rule is that a keyboard will only work with one if it came with one. you can get a keyboard for a tenner. maybe you should go that way

I see! Ok, guess that explains it :(
Need to get myself a USB keyboard then. Thanks for your help!

Hmmm - doesn't ring true for me. I'd suggest looking more closely at that USB-PS/2 converter. I have a keyboard & mouse, both PS/2, connected to a dual PS/2-USB connector, and have never had a moment's problems.

maybe you are using windows 98?
if so, it won't be recognised.

No, I'm on XP so that shouldn't be a problem.
A new keyboard is only €15 so I don't really mind getting a USB one.
