Filters question...

Hi all, a question for those gathered...

I need to changed my filter system to a larger size (I got a larger diameter lens at Christmas). I currently have a no-name Jessops filter holder and a few Cokin grey-grads (all 'A' size), but now I need to change to the 'P' size as the new lens is 67mm diameter.

I'd just like to know if any of you folks use a 'P' system and if you think it's worthwhile for me to buy a branded system or just go with another no-name brand? For the actual glass, I'd stick with a good brand (Cokin, Lee, whatever) but is the 'P' size standard across brands?

    Cheers,

    B.

Seems a bit strange that they would try to compete with a whole new fitting. I'm sure I've looked into it before and they were all fairly standard, sorry I can't say anything more definite :(

No probs, I'd say all should be ok if I buy a no-name brand, but I'm asking more to see if anyone goes "NOOOOO! Don't get one because of x, and y, and z!".

    Cheers,

    Cheers,

I've never bought into the P system. Any filters I have are the smaller ones which I use with a Cokin holder. Some of the filters I have though are really cheap and nasty - freebies from magazines. With use of post processing software I was hoping that eventually I would learn enough to be able to stop using the filters.

I use the 'P' cokin holder system, and I use it with the singh ray graduated ND filters. The 'P' system is a product of cokin and other filter manufacturers cather for this filter system as it is popular choice.

Cool, so I should be safe enough with a no-name. Thanks Heff.

Benster heres one I bought from ebay, just choose the proper adaptor ring, I got one of these for a 77mm and the quality is very good, no different to the cokin brand as I have one for a 58mm also.
