Skystar 2 problem

I don't know if this is the correct forum so feel free to move.

I have a Skystar 2 in my PC about a year now and had no problems using it until recently. I hadn't watched satellite TV on my PC in about a month so hadn't got it connected. I connected it yesterday and it doesn't seem to be working. Setup4PC says "Out of lock" when I try any frequency which would usually work.

I got up on the roof yesterday and the cable and LNB seem fine. My Sky Digital is fine. The cable and is still in the back of the PC and the PC wasn't moved or thrown across the room.

Sorry for my lack of technical knowledge but can anyone narrow down the cause of the problem? I have a feeling the cable was tugged at by my brother when he was working on the roof (he says he might have accidentally pulled it) but it seems fine to me when I got up.

    Cheers.

I think you're in the right place.

You're probably right in guessing the root of the problem. Can you try using the PC with a known working cable connection (where your Sky box is ?) that would help eliminate the cable.

Sorry but I don't quite understand what you mean. :o:) I have no other cable if that's what you mean.

Think he means bring the PC into where the sky box is and try it there, if possible. If it works there, then it's probably the cable.

Reinstall the drivers that came with the Skystar-2 Card if you can't get a signal when you hook it up to the cable going from the Satellite Dish to the Sky Digibox. ( Disconnect the cable from the back of the Sky Digibox and try it with the Skystar-2 Card )
