I got a few shots yesterday during the rugby. Hope you enjoy them. Please feel free to make any suggestions regarding improvements.

I like number 2 sort of mechanical with organic nice colours too. 3 whereabouts is that? Number 1 is ok but maybe crop the number plate out rather than cover it... good shots though..

Rather than crop the number plates out in number one , I would crop off the left hand side to the crashbar making the image symmetrical , I think it would look better that way.

Thanks for the suggestion. I always try to avoid the symmetrical though as some tutor in college told me it was not pleasing to the eye. Maybe she was wrong.

Thanks for giving me your views. Photo #3 is the driveway leading to Beechpark Gardens in Clonsilla, Dublin 15. The reason I went for #2 was I like the idea of nature covering up the discarded bike. I will try to do something with the number plate.

Er, symmetry is a major part of aesthetics!

She was a painting tutor in NCAD for what it's worth.

I'm sorry, what was it you studied in NCAD? :)

It was such a long time ago now that I would prefer to forget.

Same as any other rules for photography or perspective , sometimes they should be obeyed and sometimes it works better if you break them ,

Rule of thirds will tell you that symmetry in the strict sense wont work , horizon in the middle for instance , but occasionally it does , You just have to spot when to break it. For the car front , I say this time symmetry works.

Yeah the lads are right, people are naturally attracted to symettry, itll often mean the difference between a good photo, and a great photo.

Well maybe I'll give it a try with the car shot if you think it will improve it.

I like the second one alot, the first one is another of your whats the point photos :)

1st doesn't do anything for me..

Second and third are grand... maybe if you stood more to the right and pointed the camera more left... possibility you would have needed a wider angle lens but other than small picks like, I think there good,.

If you make the jeep picture symetrical ,you'll notice the bull bars are not centre :D

I hate it when things aren't centred ,but that photo almost gets the bull bars away with it.

Well maybe that's one of the reasons for hating my photos because I make a conscious effort not to centre anything. If I centre something important when taking the photo I try to correct it later.

Heres a photo i took yesterday ,it's not symetrical either.

Hope you don't mind me sticking a photo here ,I never post photos jools.
