    Hi,

I have a really annoying problem with windows xp:mad: . I did a self build a few months ago and installed xp home and its been perfect since. Yesterday I decieded to do a cleanup and delete stuff i didnt want because the machine had slowed a bit. It was perfect this morning but when I turned it on at about 8 tonight I got the message that I must reactivate within 3 days because of a major hardware change(i havent touched it for ages). I was annoyed but nonetheless I tried to reactivate. It told me that the same oem key couldnt be reactivated. So now I am stuck with a timebomb of a pc counting down to 3days at which time it will lock out.
What can I do? Please Help!!!

One thing you can do is activate by phone, tell them the story and away ya go.... a bit of a pain but you only got 3 days left...

When activated copy these files ( wpa.dbl and wpa.bak ) so if you re-install you just copy these back to your Windows\System32 folder and you will not need to re-activate.

    regards

I just did a bit of research and then I wne into the system 32 and found those files. I can see that the wpa.dbl file has been modified today. Then i went to google and found that there is a virus that does mess with your activation so this must be what happened. Ill just have to wait till monday to ring microsoft. I dont suppose their open on weekends. Do you have a number by any chance?

    They be open all right...?

When you go to activate, select By Phone... you will then get the number for Ireland. It will be a local number. It can take a few minutes. Know your "Alpha, Bravo, Carrot, Delta.... etc...."

That's true about MS tbh, their customer service is top notch.
Then again I suppose it'd have to be.
