    Fock...........

    RTE

Munster coach Declan Kidney has called Mick Prendergast and Frank Murphy into the squad as back-up cover because of concerns around the fitness of number nine Peter Stringer.

The Ireland and Munster scrum-half has been rated doubtful for tomorrow's Heineken Cup semi-final against Leinster at Lansdowne Road.

Stringer aggravated a leg injury in training yesterday, but he will be given until tomorrow, before a final decision is taken.

Great. So that's Horan, Quinlan, Cullen, Murphy, Sheehan and Stringer. 6 first team starters all injured. O'Gara isn't 100% and TOL who'll probably take Stringers place is also nursing a hamstring injury. It's bordering on comical at this stage.

  • sheehan is not a first team starter... Flannery is though....

stop making it seem worse, the match hasn't even started yet, the excuses come later

    :D

eh.. last time I checked, he was Munster's and Ireland's number one hooker before he got injured. It's hardly Munster's fault that they have two international class hookers is it now.

ah i think even when sheehan gets back to full strength he'll be second string after flannerys performances of late.

    I'd rather flannery over sheehan

We have 36 players in the squad and we need 22 for the game. excluding the 6 starters and TOL and the missing in action 3 (devlin, pitout and connolly) and our 2 extra props (buckley and mcgovern) and we are down to 24 players to choose from. Of those 24, 14 are forwards, so we basically have no choice at all when it comes to the backs. Stringer is definitely a HUGE loss. Especially seeing as Prendie and Frank Murphy have played about 2 games of rugby this season BETWEEN THEM! But I'm sure Munster will knuckle down at give it their best shot. Stringer or no Stringer.
