YO'd be much better off with the Epson R220 for 100 Eurons.
You can get full cart kit (6 cartridges + 1 extra black) from ukdvdr.co.uk for £5.50
And it prints directly onto CD/DVDs - I have one - fantastic printer

Yes those cartridges can be refilled. Whether its home refills you're on about or done in a refilling outlet, it depends. In a refilling outlet, yes definately once they have the correct inks in stock for the different cartridges.

As for the Epson R220, Epson are usually better and cost a lot less for new cartridges and for refills.

Lexmark new cartridge prices are fairly hefty.

You should consider ongoing running costs (ink and how often it needs to be replaced/refilled) when looking at cheap printers. Often the case is that the printer is offered at almost cost price because a single cartridge often costs more than half what you paid for the actual printer.

Have you any experience of HP printers - do you think Epson are a better printer - cheaper to run? I have a HP Printer and looking to get an all singing all dancing one - was going to automatically go for HP but I'm thinking of looking at other brands

    Thanks

HP and Lexmark are expensive to run when you consider the ongoing costs of ink. Epson usually work out cheaper and are easier to fix and maintain. I've dealt with fixing, using, and refilling all of the brands and Epson and Canon are the better two when you consider buying price of the printer and then the price of new cartridges and/refilling/compatibles.

As for those Dell cartridges, give it a few months and give them a ring. Technology is advancing day by day and there has to be inks developed for each specific cartridge, along with moving parts. More and more companies are trying to stop refilling and remanufacture by developing different types of ink, but there are always alternatives after a few months. A Dell branded cartridge can give the same or less yield as a non-branded cartridge - once they are specifically developed by another company for that particular cartridge/printer.

Roughly to get inkjets refilled in a shop it costs about half the original price. To get laser cartridges refilled it can cost anywhere from half to 2/3 the original price because laser cartridges arent just refilled, some of the mechanical bits are replaced inside also. The newer hard inks cant be refilled but there are companies out there doing quality compatibles, not just rip offs with general universal properties.
