Flights to Brisbane

Myself and my boyfriend are heading over to Brisbane in July for a few weeks and we were wondering is there any particular airline people would recommend. I was hoping to fly with an airline that only has one stop over (for a few hours, not an overnight stop over).
What are the cheapest airlines and should I book a flight from Dublin to Brisbane or London to Brisbane?

Do you have relatives there or something, if not do yourself a favour and head to Cairns ad then onto Darwin instead, nothing much happening in Brisbane, the gold coast(surfers paradise) aint that special either. Id rather hang out in Sydney or melbourne than Brissie

Most airline combinations (especially if you count Dublin -> London as a leg of the journey) are going to require 2 stop overs.

I would recommend going to see a good travel agent for something like this, as they can often combine fares classes and airlines that online booking sites cannot. Hopefully they can minimise the time you have to wait around at the connecting airports as well

Unless you can afford 1st class avoid Virgin, they only excell in 1st class, we were on them twice on long haul last year and both thimes they were shocking. Technology and all that fantastic, comfort: 0

My sister is in Brisbane and when I arrive we're travelling up the Gulf Coast together, thats why its there I'm going.

Thanks for the advice guys. I know London is a stopover but its just a matter of changing flights. I was wondering if it worked out cheaper for anyone if they booked it directly from London or from Dublin. If I book from London I can get a cheap BMI flight from Dublin to Heathrow.
I also noticed that some airlines like Emirates stop overnight in Dubai, which isnt something I want to do. I dont mind a few hours in Singapore or Hong Kong but I definitely do not want to sleep in an airport overnight, or even a hotel for that matter.

It *may* (not nessecarily always) work out cheaper. However, you have to factor in that should you book only from London, you will have to collect your luggage at Heathrow, then go to the new terminal and re-check in at Heathrow as bmi will not through check luggage unto another flight unless they are part of the same booking. So it's not nessecarily just a matter of changing flights as such - it can also be a matter of changing flights, terminals, dragging luggage around etc. So while booking a seperate flight to London, and back, it's not nessecarily the best idea in terms of convenience. Plus, should there be a delay on your flight to Heathrow, bmi have no obligation to do anything about your subsequent flights and likewise on the way back with the other airline.

Some airlines will involve longer times between flights, and some will not. Again, this is where some leg work comes into it. Research on the web with regard to flights from London to Brisbane and see which have the best connections and come up with some good options, go talk to agents and see can they price it for you including a connection from Dublin.

The route many people take (to perth and sydney - I;m not sure about brisbane) is with Aer Lingus to Dusseldorf, then to Singapore, and then to Oz. It seems to be the cheapest one out there. However there are some serioylsy long waits in airports in the very early hours when nothing is open. My tip is to pay a little extra and get a nicer journey.
