house under attack from 2 bastard birds

for the past few weeks these 2 birds have been driving us crazy. i have no idea what they are but they look too big to be pigeons. anytime there is an upstairs window left open they try to get into the house. one day they succeeded and crapped all over the place. its getting frustrating now, we cant leave a window open without them trying to get into the house. they spend hours each day sitting on the sills, stalking and cawing at us :D i'm looking for ideas for getting rid of them.

    thanks

Albino pigeons. Bit of rat poison on the window sill should do the trick. Or else capture them and sell them. They look cool.

yeah they do look pretty cool. i dont want to kill them but i have been tempted to flick them in the head with my finger.

Yeah, they do look very cool. Seem to have a very evil look in the eye though. A quick oul' exorcism wouldn't hurt once the rat-poison phase is done.

Get a cat, open the window place cat into room, video and place onto internet for others to giggle at.

You could ring a local bird racing club and ask them about them. Perhaps they are lost or something?

Sounds/looks like homing pigeons/doves that decided your house is similar enough to whatever pigeon-fancier loft they were trying to reach.

Have they any rings on their feet?

Some advice, and contact numbers (for Belfast, Lisburn and Dublin) on this page:
    http://www.rpra.org/strays.html

Hmm...just recall hearing something about trend of releasing pair of doves at weddings. I wonder how that works...are the birds hand/shed reared and basically doomed when released, or are they homing birds that might head home and live to fly another day...

Ok, I've thought about it, and here is your solution.
    You might need these aswell.

    Not Your Ornery Onager

Didn't look at your pics, but pretty sure they are jailbirds - or if not, dirtbirds definitely.

they've covered our house and cars in about an inch of bird sh*t. i am so tempted to feed them some alka-seltzer, so if they are homing pigeons when they return to their owner he can watch them explode and hopefully cover him and house in as much crap as his birds have done to ours.

get one of those cheap PIR alarms in B&Q, set it on your windowsill, every time they land it will go off an scare them sh1tless ;)

Alternatively, just put crumpled tinfoil / crumpled bin liner bags stuck on your window sill, or somthing that will either make a noise or be very uncomfortable to sit / stand on, they will soon get the message.

TBH your just encouraging them with your picture taking, giving them dreams of stardom and all that.

They're fantail pigeons, likely to belong to someone locally as they don't tend to fly all that far. Unfortunately their homing ability is pretty poor too.

We had the much the same problem a few months ago - a grey homing pidgeon with no ring markers landed on our lawn and would not move off. We brought it to a local vet and he told us that it had landed and was knackered due to flight exhaustion having flown from Alabama in the U.S.
