There was a house in Limerick for sale some time last year for €5K:eek: It had bordered up windows etc, and when you put the name of the estate into google, there were a few stories of stabbings, assaults etc etc but for €5k you can't go wrong, probably worth about €10K now!

Try the accomodation / property forum, but a very quick search on daft gave a couple of results:
    http://www.daft.ie/searchsale.daft?search=1&s[cc_id]=&s[mnp]=100000&s[mxp]=150000&s[bd_no]=&limit=10&search_type=sale&id=78629

Limerick is the cheapest of the cities, I think, the head of daft.ie said it was the only place where it was still worth buying anything.

I think it was more along the lines of it is the most affordable city to buy in - as in you could get a 3 bed place in some parts, rent a room out and have a mortgage of < €500 per month. Ironically the same guy still lives at home with his mother!

a cheap house isnt much use if u are unemployed or stabbed to death/
the head of daft is probably saying that while hes bidding 4 million on a house in d4.
im no great believer in the media, their job is to sell news. bad news sells. stories of a price crash sells newspapers/people dont buy and rent property on daft. they were talking about a crash in 2000 when houses were buttons.
i wouldnt believe a word they say personally..

Ah Lomb, around 80,000 people manage to live in Limerick with being stabbed to death, some of us even have jobs too.

You would be crazy, stone cert crazy, to live there if you didn't grow up there. Very much a local place for local people.

I have moved about the country quite a bit, and I have to say that while I don't love Limerick, it is no hardship living there.Mostly because the people are relaxed, friendly and genuine, which makes the quality of life so much better than in Dublin but also it is a city with good facilities, so much better than Galway in that respect.

like most people I thought the stab city label was a semi-joke, but look at this a house in o'malley park, southhill, limerick for today for EUR 28,000, now I know its a local authority design but seriously if the price is that low there must be some catch, like stabbings etc

    http://www.limerickpost.ie/propnew/details.elive?sku=11289339263468406

if that was in cork it would be EUR 150,000 at least

well if the OP decides to move to O'Malley and has children, there's a nice school in walking distance away which i can recommend..and if his/her children were there only a few weeks ago they would have had a lovely student teacher teaching them:D
