Menu extras disappeared?

    My menu extras or meulets as some people refer to them have disappeared.
    (they are the things that normally appear up in the top right hand corner of the screen time etc etc)

    Well not totally disappeared every so often they appear for about half a second and are off again.......any ideas how to solve this please?

    I am using 10.3.9.
