    That thing has only 2 wires and a knob. Seems it's simply a variable resistor that changes the signal from the engine's MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor. Changing that signal would make the ECU change both the engine's ignition timing and fueling. But if the CRUDE settings will actually suit your car more than the factory's standard program is very questionable. Most probably will simply screw things up.

    This is a crude setup. A proper setup should allow you to set fueling and igntion independently, and should also allow you to do different settings on different rev points.

    there was a mini article/rant in one of the jap car mags recently about these things, it appears their claims are a load of crap.
