Iam currently paying for my sky subscription. Iam not looking for hacks or private scripts, just wanted to get that out of the way.

Iam reading old post all over the net, cant find anything new. Iam trying to find out what the cheapest way to watch sky out-side of my digibox.

Some options / dBox or Dreambox with a softcam

Is there anything eles, maybe some here is using something different ?

Like just a cam and a regular digital receiver ? yes / no

Thanks for your replys in advance

The only reliable way to watch sky with your Sky card / legal sub is a Sky Digibox. Anything else is a hobbyist / research solution which may not work tomorrow.

The more people that try the non-Digibox route, the quicker it will be blocked.

All these channels "from Sky" work on ANY digital receiver / Satellite PVR / PC PCI card etc, without card or CAM:

Have you read the current thread here on this subject?

From what I read, Dreambox works with it, and it updates teh keys. Dragon works too, but doesn't update key (I think).

Thanks @byte, yeah I kinda new about the dreambox aparantly the nokia would have more features, it supports the EPG now & next function, anyway I was just hoping there might be like a regular cam, Matrix or whatever, the Dragon I beleave doesnt work anymore. No problem and no harm done, i'll probably go for the Dreambox.

I must say that as already said, there is NO guarantee that Dreambox will continue to work an NDS card. It may not work in the future.

Oh, I'll be able to sleep anyway! :D

Anyway, back on topic, let us know how you get on if you do get a Dreambox.

I have a dreambox dm500 and it works fine with my sky sub card. Its true though, generally the dreambox is great for experimenting and isn`t THAT suitable for a general set top box. Although saying that, mine has worked fine for me with the sky card. the lack of a reliable EPG is a bit of a pain though.

just to add, my Dbox2 (Nokia) with an enigma or neutrino image will work, but the cardreader has to be fitted and it must have a 3,57mhz crystal fitted so it talks to the sky card. (Lots of soldering, hair pulling and fun to be had)
It also updates apparently, all the same thing as Watty says, its veering into hobby stuff. DM500 is prob the easiest route for this procedure.

Whatever way you go, just remember the sky receiver is prob the reliable one.
