Sorry - this may be old news but new figures have been released showing Firefox's usage stats.

    BBC wrote:
More than 10% of net users are going online with the Firefox browser, show figures from analysis firm One Stat.

The global average of 11.5% is the highest percentage of users that the open source browser has ever reached.

The research also reveals that Americans are the biggest fans of Firefox with 14.1% using it. In the UK 4.9% use it to get around online.

Despite the success, Microsoft's Internet Explorer still dominates the net with an 85.5% market share.
    ...

    ...UK Usage Chart:
    1) Microsoft Internet Explorer - 93.37%
    2) Mozilla Firefox - 4.94 %
    3) Apple Safari - 0.99 %
    4) Opera - 0.39 %
    5) Netscape - 0.23 %

Thought people might be interested. Firefox is still making slow and steady progress - but has huge way to go toward making an impact on IE

Yes, It should be a lot higher, given its a far superior piece of software

Although it's quite easy in opera to cahnge the user agent strings to say opera is firefox/IE, so I should think Opera has a bit more then .39

Well it would depend on how the figures were calculated - if it was by survey then the figure for Opera wouldn't change regardless of what agent strings were in operation.

In January, with 5,450,192 visitors and 49,021,810 page views, W3Schools had 25.0% visitors using Firefox, 1.6% using Opera. They do note that their typical visitor is more likely to be using an alternative browser than the average user.

March shows 24.5% Firefox and 1.5% Opera (pagehit numbers not available for March).

There's a huge variety in usage across nations - places like Germany and Finland, the usage is around 35% but in the UK it has remained very low for some reason. US usage is similar to that global average they quote. It's an odd scenario but it's certainly not the first time that people refuse to use the better product, particularly in the IT world.*

*(I'm sure someone will eventually arrive on this thread and "proudly" proclaim that they still use Internet Explorer for example)
