how would i get a copy of windows 2000 for free

    hi lads
    any idea
    it needs to be a legit copy cos if its to be accpeted on the wireless network at college so it cant be pirated etc
    so could i use someone elses installtion cd - even if its already been installed and availing of win updates etc?

    Short of microsoft sending you one you can't get a free copy. legally.. If someone gave you their license then maybe, but its a grey area> I know there is a firm that sells on licences when companys upgrade but accoring to micrososts EULA the software is VERY restricted in its legal uses and transfers.

    Do you mean still availing of Widows Updates? If that's the case then that's almost a perfect definition of a pirated copy and it's most definitely not legit.

    If that copy of Windows has been removed from the PC then it's legitimate to sell or give away the licence - but only if it's a purchased copy of Windows. If it's an OEM version (came pre-installed on the PC) then that licence is limited to the PC it came on.

    No way of getting it for free legit, so yeah Santa or...shock horror you might have to spend money to get it.:eek:
