Whats "affordable". You can get a 1gb flash player/usb key/radio/voice recorder/mp3/wma player on ebay for under €100, probably as low as €60 these days.

otherwise a second hand iriver H120 would be very good recordings, if it is for interviews for radio you may want something decent

Did you have a look on Ebay mate,there are loads of MD recorders goin very cheap,way cheaper than in shops.
