This is why I am giving this game a rest for a while.

€100 FO. 49 runners. 6500 starting stack. Blinds start 25/50. I nick a few pots ealry on and get up to about 8000 when I witness some strange play by a guy three to my right who calls big flop, turn and river bets down on a Ace high board only to show second pair and loose to TP. The next hand, I am UTG+1 and limp with JJ. Comes around to the button (the guy who just called down with second pair) and he pushes for 3K. I think for a little while and just call. He show 99 and the board doesn't help, so now I'm cruising. Very next hand; I'm UTG with AKo. I raise to 300 and UTG+1 raises to 1200. Folded back to me and I think for a while. I decieded to find out where I was and reraised to 3600. UTG+1 thinks for a good while and finally calls - this bothers me a bit. Flop come Q rag rag. I check (terrible, I know). UTG+1 bets 1500. Unsure about how I got into this mess I reluctantly fold only for UTG+1 to show AKo too. - Oh dear - well played.
The VERY next hand. I am BB. I get AKo. Limped around to me I make it 300 to go. One caller from UTG. Flop comes KT3. I check. UTG bets 800 (he has 2600 left). Again, I KNOW I am behind but for some unreal reason I call. As sure as a shark sh1ts in the sea he turns over KT and I get no help. No matter, lets keep going. Two hands later I am on the button and guess what, AKs. GREAT. Couple of limpers and I make 500 to go (made it look tilty too). One call from the BB. Flop comes A rag rag. BB bets the pot, I come over and he calls. He shows A5  I am ahead. Would anyone care to hazard a guess as to what card came on the river?
Anyway, 30 minutes into this game and I am at the bar waiting for the SNG's to start.

As I walked away one of the guys on the table said I was unlucky and I did everything right - I disagree. I have been playing way too much lately and I think a summer rest will do me some good.

The funny thing is I was only talking to a mate at the weekend and telling him how PT shows I do pretty badly with AK. I suppose sometime the actual cards don't matter. As for calling when I am behind - I just don't know what to do about this one - Oh, I know, give up playing

I assume the blinds are 50/100 here judging from the UTG raise. Raising up to 300 on the BB with a full table of limpers is terrible, I'm surprised only one player stayed in with the massive pot odds theyre being offered. I must be wrong in my assumption!

plying AK out of position is hard enough i think when you miss.
playing AKs i sometimes dont mind not raising pre-flop and taking it in to flop agains a larg field.when i do this im not hoping to make a pair but im hoping for my str/flush draws to hit and i fthey do i can win a big pot.your pairs will loose some value this as a single pair may not be good enough to win against a larg field but i thing that some what gets compenstated by your str/flush value.
