    Hi all,
Im trying to burn a windows media file to a DVD so that I can keep it for my collection and watch it on a normal DVD player, all legal, it's a recording of a birthday party.:D I've tried Nero but it doesn't recognise the file type. Is there any other software out there that will help me to make a DVD, or chnage the file type?

    You can try WINAVI:
    http://www.winavi.com/en/video-converter/video-converter.htm

Thats the demo version on that link..
It can convert avi's, real media, XVID, divx, mov etc to DVD format and vice versa.
If you like the software buy it, don't be like the immoral people that would search for a crack on the likes of astalavista.box.sk.
I have used it a few times and its very straight forward.

For avi to dvd check out diko (google it). It's free and it works well.

I've tried Win Avi on the free trial, but it doesn't seem to work. The files are still .avi...

    Should work.
Open it, hit the DVD button, it should ask what files to add and just add the AVI's.
Then it creates the VOBs etc.
    Worked for me every time.
