If you look close those drivers were smiling for the camera - when they should have been watching the road.

    did anyone die?

It does look like no one was badly hurt and I reckon that van that got totalled - it was the people from that who were videoing it.

did they set it up for a crash? just to video it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 794 ✭✭✭ChityWest

I dont think so - the audio has them calling the ambulances I think. Looks like they broke down and left their van in the (american) fast lane. Then got the video camera out.

bad move really, fast lane+night time+stalled car bad idea

Don't American cars leave the indicators permanently lit and they wouldn't make for a good hazzard warning as such.

From driving an american car, they use their brake likes as indicators they dip slightly, its pretty crap.

Think their indicator is red and looks like our brake light - the yellow light is normaly lit in addition to the normal lights - open to correction on that one.

Most American cars have gone with the conventional yellow indicators. Those that remain red tendu to use different bulbs to the brake/tail lights, so there is an obvious difference between the two. That wasn't the fault of the car design, that was idiots on the road who were driving using the Force instead of looking where they were going. Footage was taken in Los Angeles.

Don't some of the brake lights double up as indicators? i.e. the brake light flashes on and off when indicating

Its been on TV a few times as usual they say nobody was seriously injured:rolleyes: .I bet there were a **** load of claims though seeing as its in the States.Just a question there someone can enlighten me on.Ok Car1 is rearended by Car2,then Car2 is rearended by Car3,Car3 is rearended by Car4 and so on and so on.
So Car1 sues Car2,Car2 sues Car3,Car3 sues Car4.Is this the way its gonna go???? I suppose it all depends on the severity of the injury but it must be a bitch of a report to right up!!!

    this one is worse.

Its from the Lefortovo tunnel in Moscow, probably one of the most dangerous tunnels in the world

    Here's my Chevrolet.

    http://www.clubi.ie/exalted/images/Other/camrear.jpg

The reversing light is obviously the white one. Directly underneath is the yellow indicator. It is on only when blinking. To the right are two more lights, both red. The constant 'when the headlights are on' light, and the brake light. There is a third brake light in the center (mandated on all cars) in the spoiler.

Up front, there are two pairs of yellow bulbs, and three pairs of white. One set of yellow is on at all times, daylight or night. The other set of yellow is the indicator.

This is not a default standard. For example, the current generation Mustang or Impala both use red rear indicators. However, these are different bulbs to those used for brake lights (Which again, will have the center set), or tail-lights. The days of one bulb serving as both tail light and indicator are gone as of some time ago.

That said, it's irrelevant. Unless these people were sleeping, they'd have seen the lights up ahead, red, white, green, whatever. The fault of the accident lies with them, not the colour bulb used.

As for Lefortovo, I wonder what happened with the bus? Otherwise, looks like a lot of the accidents were caused by people crossing the solid white line.
