If you are reporting a thread, please try and post a note saying you did it. Sometimes we can get up to 10 reports of the same post. I know sometimes you don't really want to come across as a "rat" or whatever, but every little helps.

You mean if I were to report your post there then this should be me saying 'just reported you'?

Well yeah, I was just clarifying if thats what Giblet meant more than demonstrating what one should say.

... or else the user could edit it..

Yep, pretty much, just say reported to let the other users know.

How about, instead of ruining the run of a thread, add a bit more detail to the report, instead of saying: "Troll!!!"
Say "giblet trolling about (insert topic) in AH"
    Thoughts?

Does a copy of the post not get sent with the reporting? Otherwise yeah the user could edit the post and the offending material would be gone without swift and harsh justice being dealt out.

An Admin can see the original unedited post.

All mods see it, except HMods

Hmods are not real mods ;)

Could users just say, "I've reported a post" instead of saying what post. It might be more likely for them not to by shunned if they don't say what post in particular.

Just a vague [reported] would suffice? Besides, if you do take offense with a post and are reporting it, you should man up and say so - the OP can discuss the matter if needs be in borderline cases. It'll be obvious a lot of the time anyway.

I'd assume it would suffice. It's just to bring it to the mod's attention that there has been a post reported so that he can then go and check the reported posts forum. The problem seems to be that the emails that let us know that posts are reported don't work that well all the time, and it's not easy to see posts reported in your forum in the reported posts forum because there are so many.

I've certainy missed a few until a number of days later.
