$ or € Neteller?

    Which is better for the Irish poker player? My account is currently in € which means I have to pay a currency exchange fee on withdrawal of fees from my poker room. If my Neteller was a $ account are the fees the same except I pay them on transfer of money into my bank account? This would make more sense as transfer between poker rooms would then be free.

    hmm... anyone got experience with a $ account?

    im in the process of setting one up now, everyone i know told me to set it up in $ for those reasons, a lot less hassle as nearly all sites deal with $

    I'm setting one up too (have been for ages) and had to close down a € one and set it up in $. Maybe it depends on exactly what you will do with it, but most likely you will use it a lot to transfer funds from one account online to another, and only occasionally to cash out/deposit to/from your € bank account.

    Lol...are there some people who don't run up 5 figure tanks on every site and then tilt them away? I figured if I got a $ Neteller account I could just transfer any money I needed to cash out into All in, and then cash out in the Fitz.

    I did this a while ago too, I got it all done in one night. Bank details, money, etc. all transferred over to my new $ account in a couple of hours.

    Just got off the LiveChat with neteller support. The currency exchange fee is 1.9% and its the same wheather you pay it between poker room and neteller or neteller and Irish bank account. So that means the best neteller to get is a USD one.

    Oh and neteller Debit cards are now available to Irish residents I belive. I think this is a fairly new feature (for non-yanks). Its just like a Laser card except it debits your Neteller account directly. Probably very handy, I just applied. Send an email to debitcards@neteller.com to apply. You must have a Premier Neteller Account. (and some poker winnings to debit :D )

    The debit cards been available for ages Ive had one well over a year.

    Neteller is a great service and their customer support are unbelieveably helpful however I have been trying to get them to send me my account history outlining the charges on my account for months at this stage and still it hasnt arrived. It is very difficult to find out exactly what charges are being applied by neteller and what charges are being applied by my own bank.

    Still neteller is essential if you play much online

    How useful are they? Do they work in shops? ATMs? Other countries?

    Is there not a €2 charge or similar every time you use it??

    I transferred $140 from Neteller ($ account) to VC (euro account) and then back again instantly to Neteller and was left with $130. So it isn't free, unless it was VC doing the skimming.

    Yeah some sites pick up the tab, others don't as far as I know.

    work in any cirrus/maestro atm anywhere in the world. The max you can transfer from your netteller acc to your debit card acc is €800 p/day so if your looking to cash out a large ammount the cheque option is better but less instantaneous. I find the debit card quite useful but like I said its hard to find out how much your being charged

    sorry if i'm missing something obvious here but i don't understand why its more beneficial to change it to US dollars if the exchange rate is 1.9% either way. can someone enlighten me. for a poker player my maths suck ass. should i change my account to dollars (its currently in euro)?

    Because it means you have the benefit of being able to transfer $ between different poker rooms for no currency exchange fee. Most poker rooms deal in USD. There is no drawbacks.
