Where in North Kildare / West Dublin I can dump some old computer hardware and not be charged a ****ing fortune, I would try giving it away but I dont think anyone wants it.

Are there any projects that anyone know's of for donating old PC hardware to like for kids etc?

I would give oxfam a shot. Better to ring them first to make sure its of use to them (but I think it may be so long as its functional equipment). They are city centre though - not Dub West.

i thought that because of the WEEE charge - all electronic recycling is free - if you buy a new computer - then the place you buy it from is obliged to take the old one off you.

Or you can take it to any centre and they shouldn't charge you for it.....

I am pretty sure thats the law now.

Moved to computers since it's a HW thing

Green Forum http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=330 gets similar queries to but someone here may be interested in the stuff.

Kildare County Council will accept IT equipment FOC - recycling facility is at their old landfill on Naas Road into Kilcullen. Unless you have a number of working, tested PCs schools will not accept it

Oh, and keep the FDD. Keep one down the shed myself, as you never know when you/someone you know REALLY needs one (most new PC's don't come with one).
