I am with them since mar.
Had probs with them in that net keeps causing conflict on my pc (v unusual). 1st they blamed my net adapter, then pc itself and then blamed the poor installer. He had path worn to my door. Installer then blamed my surge protector. Re-wired twice & changed receiver. What happens is that every time i boot pc with net cable attached it hangs for bout 2 mins. Checked out pc on bb in a friends house & nothin wrong. Boots properly without net cable attached. Have formatted pc since and have figured out that its McAfee security that its conflicting with. Happens everytime i boot. In the end i just said it was ok (cant live without bb). In my opinion they just a shower of a$$holes & as soon as sum other provider comes along i'm movin. Digiweb are in next town & say they could be comin here in few mths (fingers crossed).
Lastmile are overpriced for the speed (my mothers bb is the same price, twice the speed & hers is always on not dial up like i have). Connection drops regularly. Also i'm not getting the speed i should be getting. Painfully slow sometimes.
    Any other questions?

Tested connection last nite on www.internetfrog.com. Ran it bout 5 times. Quality of service ranged from 35% to 70%, also the maximum pause was serious each time, 250ms on average. This is a pathetic service. Cant wait for sum other provider to come along.

Edit: just ran it again max pause was 550ms. Quality of service 40%. pathetic

They appear not to peer in INEX?.....
What sort of ISP doesnt peer in their own country...

(@lastmile users) ie, this text right here is stored on a server in Dublin. You live in the Irish Midlands, yet the data had to travel through London to get to you.

Nope last mile dont peer with inex. They run all their backhaul through the UK which makes pings to anything in ireland piss poor.

Keep away from Last Mile. Rip off useless providers is what they are, out to screw you in you live in a disadvantaged area with no other real BB provider.

Can't wait to get off them in October.

To quote myself from one of those threads
Been with them for over a year now, initially on the 512/128 now on 1Mb/512 unlimited.

Would agree with the contention issues, during the day 700-800 possible early evening drops to 400-500 (sometimes down to 200 down 80 up) 2am til 6 maxes out at 1000 plus

Trees etc can (and do) effect signal particularly evergreens. But so far I havent experienced this issue myself.

They route out through Packet Exchange in the UK so google etc incorrectly assumes you are in the UK.

9-5 helpdesk is fair enough although you may have to ring a few times. out of hours is non existant. As in there is NO out of hours support. And have a guess when 90% of outages occur?

But allowing for that, haven't had any major issues, uptime has been acceptable, helpdesk has been very helpful when rung, and pretty much does what it says on the tin (barring reduced speeds at busy times).

All that said, as an alternative to dial-up no competition. If you have DSL available, then given their pricing, zero out of hours support and contention ratios (or more properly apparent contention ratios as I can only guess working on perceived speed drops during busy times) take the DSL route.

For the rest of us mere mortals living in areas where eircom hasn't upgraded exchanges or living outside the DSL range, then they are a Godsend and if it wasn't for the like of them I for one certainly wouldn't have access to broadband.

Think we should start a single complaints thread 4 every1 thats not happy to voice their opinion and post links on other forums.

I have lastmile nearly a year now and as it`s my only broadband option i cant complain, had a few teething probs e.g. faulty reciever on roof which took a week to get sorted, i sometimes i have to unplug the modem to do a reset but otherwise i`m happy.
If anyone from Lastmile are reading this how about a price reduction or a speed upgrade for all.

Yeah I reckon that what they offer is not competitive at all.
Less than half the cap, quarter the speed, and twice the price of DSL.
Its simply milking those people who cant get DSL.

    And their site even says
Q: How fast is the download time with a Last Mile Broadband connection?
A: Our Residential service offers speeds as fast as standard DSL while our higher level services offer even faster downloads.
This was *never* the case. Not even when standard DSL was 512/128

Not sure if this has already been done. But could a forum be set up to show all the different ISP's that are available in Ireland (wireless or whatever) where people that actually use their service could voice their opinion of them, good or bad, for and against? For instance IBB, Digiweb, LMWBB ,all under an ISP Forum? So if you want to compliment an ISP or you want to make a complaint about and ISP it is all under an ISP forum.

From a different forum and I don't know the poster so can't verify the accuracy, but he's talking about an upgrade on speeds???????????

    http://www.irishisptest.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3163&postcount=10
    LMBB Upgrade

    Hi All,

I've been a Lastmile customer for the last 4 months. There has been a few outages but other than that, no problems on speed or service.

I use the 512/128 but I've been told that the whole network is about to get upgraded. I have only a small amount of info on this but it seems that any customers on the 512/128 will be upgraded at no extra cost to the 1Mb/512 service. What this means for customers on a higher connection speed already, I have no idea.

I do use my connection to game with Xbox Xlink-Kia, a free Xbox live service, and it works well.

In answer to anyone who has LOS issues, it is VERY dependant on true line of sight!

    Hope this helps.

anyone else heard anything about this?

    John

I have seen that post to. But I am in no way sure how accurate it is. There is not mention of it at all on the LastMile home page? Cornflake I feel your pain mate. I have just sent another letter of complaint to them. Why do I feel like I never really left Eircon?
