Hi Guys just wondering if people can help me out with this hand from 5/10 holdem,

Live game(Jury's) 7 handed I'm on C/O maniac in early position raises to 50 blind I call with QJ off..I've seen this guy asking the dealer to raise blind for him each time the night before..mad as I have ever seen!!

    now heads up..

Flop comes AXJ he bets out 100,I call thinking J is good

Turn comes Q he bets out 250 (now 2 pair)

    I raise to 500

He reraises all in another 300 (I realise he may have K10)

I call he turns over K10 of course

Second time lately this has happened..What should I have done any suggestions?Anybody got a good way of playing this hand?

agreed, unless u flop AKT, u wont know where u stand, and this guy will keep betting by the looks of it, wait for a better spot.

folding preflop isnt great advice - he is raising blind, you have position and a hand that figures to be beter than his. You just got unlucky.

If he's going to play this hand then why not reraise preflop.

Off the flop, you thought the J was good, why didn't you raise?

If you think you have the best raise, raise & raise!

Calling and raising are both fine imo

I prefer re-raising preflop just incase some other nut decides to call for 50 too, unless you are in LP. The flop call is fine, you just got unlucky. He did however have the best hand going in.:)

I'd be wary of reraising preflop because some maniacs will see this as an ideal oppertunity to push all-in for the hell of it. There's lots of (admittedly still weak) hands he could have that are better than yours. I don't think you can call AI preflop with QJ. If you think he's not that maniac then raising prelop is ok.

I think the flop is ok and I'm getting it AI on the turn too. Do you think he checks the turn to you if he doesn't improve?

I think you played the hand perfect. I don't like reraising preflop, your hand is too weak and the stacks are too shallow.

The following is areply i got from Joe Beevers...

Playing in a game with a player that is making it 5 BBs blind every hand can be fun and there is more than one strategy. My prefered one would be the less volatile one. Why play him at his own game? Most money won gambling is done so by going against the crowd and what might be expected. If he wants to gamble then let him it doesn't mean that you have to. This means that I would tighten up my game, make sure that I have him covered, and look for locks. I would play big pairs and maybe AK or AQs in late position. When it goes in it is likely to all go in so I want to make sure it's coming out again!

If you choose to play many more hands, like QJ, you will give yourself more opportunities but it will be more volatile for sure.

In your particular hand, once you have seen the flop, I would flat call the flop and the turn. If you are best you don't want to lose him. If he bets the river or if a 10 or K come off then you may be faced with a hard decision. If however a blank comes and he checks you can bet about half the pot (or maybe a bit less) for value as he may well call with a single pair as you have showed no previous aggression.
