Powerbook G4 400 Repairs

    Hey i just got a Powerbook for free im happy its my first mac even if its a piece of **** but the power supply is borked i have to charge it on the the external battery charger:mad: i was just wondering anybody know where i can get a replacement? or send it in to get repaired in the Dublin area

    If your battery is borked, then you can replace it from a few sources - I think OWC do Apple batteries (http://www.macsales.com/) but they're not cheap. You might find something cheaper on eBay but there again, it won't have a guarantee and won't hold a charge as long etc etc.

    You could probably send it into Mactivate, but to be honest, it's such an old machine it probably isn't worth the price that they'll ask for.

    Yeah its old alright but its grand for me getting into the wonderful world of macs i might see if mac sales have psu's for it

    Is it a PSU problem as distinct from a battery problem? PSU would be harder to rectify.

    Im confused? Is the PSU borked or the connector on the laptop. I have a few spares here so let me know.

    got this sorted out yet men sounds like you are all confused there is no psu in the conventional sence laptop has a power adaptor if you need one just tell me the processor eg 500mhz and i will wave my magic wand for you... been fixing apples gear for years so should have what you need.
