    Wow,
Just home from the Olympia after seeing Jack L on the first gig of his new album promotion and cannot praise the performance enough.
I am far from being a sycophant, but Christ was that man good tonight.
This is from a man who slated him on his last outing.
If you get a chance catch this gig on Wed or Thurs at the Olympia.
Welcome back to form JacK !

I was at the gig last night also (Tuesday) and knew none of his songs before going. I was there as a guest of a fan!

Leaving aside the apparent scizophrenic support act (excellent but dangerous) who plays with Jack's Band, the gig left me confused.

I am very open minded when it comes to music, and have experience of both the popular music and classical scenes. But I failed to see what the attraction of Jack L is.

Yes he has a class voice. Yes he has a very talented band. (I actually know the cello player and she is class). Yes he can entertain.

But there is just something about his music and style that is a major No-No for me. Can't put my finger on it at all.

A lot of his songs have very repetitive lyrics and he tries too hard to be overly artistic. He seems confused as to where his 'style' lies. Is he rock? Is he a ballad singer? Is is Rock n Roll? Is he Pop?

The band at times just looked like they were jamming - OK at times and perfectly acceptable as they were enjoying it, but that again distracted from Jack L.

I suppose overall it was a decent gig, not the worst I was ever at.
