Is there some setting I can change ? for more info just ask

do you need to read the emails in both accounts ?

set one account that check the mail first to not leave a copy of the messages on the server that way when the second account checks there won't be any mails for it to collect off the server

i just did that with one of the accounts.. It seems to works.. but I have a further problem.

My friend has a second pc (a laptop) and she wants to download the emails to that machine also... Does she have to switch the box on and off because the new email will no longer be there on the server ?

need more detail on what the email server is

    yahoo mail ?

    Indigo eircom ? etc

if collecting the same emails on different machines for offline viewing then IMAP might be the way to go

this is like a live view of the server of the emails so when you delete it deletes off the server and when you read it marks as read etc

Yahoo doesn't support it but indigo might along with any domain name and decent hosting package

Eircom is one of the servers and the other hosting ireland.

Is IMAP hard to set up ?

eircom don't provide IMAP server access. Don't think hosting ireland does either for most packages.

What you could do is set your mail program to leave a copy of the mail on the server. So if you check your mail on PC1 and then your friend checks the same account on PC2, they will still get the mail. However both of you need to do this otherwise the mail will be deleted from server by the PC that doesn't have this option enabled.

thanks for that... she used to leave a copy on the server but that meant she got two emails every time she got 1.

Shouldn't do that so something else must be wrong with your setup
