    Hey!
Any one know how to connect to valve with a networked computer?
I have an account and when i try to launch a game from a pc on the lan it won't allow me to connect, not even in off line mode. Is it possable to update a game from a networked pc? theres no routher its a straight forward peer to peer lan with a proxy running on the pc with the internet connection, a proxy which i have no control over as its a satellite connection and just does its thing and i'm sure i don't block any ports.

I think once the machine can access the internet it doesnt matter much whether its on a Lan or not.

Offline mode should work provided that machine has previously downloaded all of the game files required to run a steam game - .i.e. if you have only installed whats on the cd - then you dont yet have a complete installation.

You need web access on the pc in question to get the missing files. When you have gotten them you should be ok to play with a machine that has no web access.
