since starting to train with me last October The Ice Viking has made some big waves on the European MMA scene. His clash on May 27th with the current Cagewarriors and Fightfest champion Forrest Petz will be the biggest test of his past 8mths hard training and of course not forgetting the 5 or so years of thai boxing in Iceland.

his first fight back in october against the very game Aidan Marrow propelled Arni to the forefront of irish MMA with an exciting first round stoppage from a barrage of fierce strikes. he dismantled his second opponent in similar style at the UFN show up north a month later.

his first loss came in December against the excellent BJJ fighter peter irving by RNC and only served to make Arni train his submission harder than ever. his BJJ training paid off winning his next fight (which was his first Cage Fight in the UK) by Kimura in January of this year.

Cagewarriors announced they were going to run an 'Old Skool' 8-man cage fighting tournament to decide who would contest the Welterweight title in May. after a lot of persuasion the promoters agreed to enter the 'novice' into the tournament as a long shot outsider. well nobody told Arni that he was supposed to go out in the first round and instead he won his 3 fights decisively, 1 KO, 1 TKO and then the finals by straight arm bar. these were all against opponents who on paper heavily out matched him.

Winning this bout will set Arni up for the World MMA scene. At just 22 years of age he certainly has all the talent and the work ethic required to go right to the top.

But before this fight he will be fighting at the Ring of Truth on April 29th against Greg Loughran. Greg has shown many times in the past he can hang with the best of them and has some note worthy results against some top UK competitors. Arni is certainly not taking this fight lightly and has trained for this like all his other fights, like he’s fighting for the UFC title! This will be a cracking bout and will really showcase the best in Irish MMA.

Tickets still available from SBG at 0876768911 or from Mullens Martial Arts shop on Capel St.

Petz is a good fighter. A girl I know lives near him and told me about him like 2 years ago.. I've been keeping an eye on his record ever since. Arni is in for a handful.

Good point. I've read all the controversy with his fight with Dan Hardy. i think Arni is still in for a real test and it will be great experience for him either way. Best of luck to him, a win will do alot for SBG too i think.
