I'm creating this thread because there is some good races today, and I need something to keep my mind off of work as it's doing my head in.

2.15 Artist's Muse jumps out like a sore thumb. Good form, very highly rated and the superb Ruby Walsh on board. That's enough for me.

2.45 Old Flame is brilliant value at 11/1. Taking out it's Sandown run it has been very consistent. Cullen is well used to taking the mount, and the weight is not an issue at all. If it hadn't ran since Sandown I would be worried about how fresh it is, but the win 31 days ago proves it's fresh and up for the task.

3.50 Joueur D'Estruval finished second to Old Flame last time out. It's worth noting the huge move on Helensburgh 8s from 25s, Hughes who had the winner of this race last year. I'm going to have an each way bet on Joueur D'estruval, along with a small bet on Ursis.

4.25 Top Strategy beat Guilt last time out, and it was fairly convincing too. The top weight is a worry as it has yet to win off of 11-12. It beat Lisbooney Project last year off of 11-9 with Ruby on board, and hopefully it can do the business today.

5.25 First Down Jets was a tip I got from a mate of mine who works in a stable in Wicklow, for Cheltenham when it finished a superb 2nd place at 66/1. I haven't heard from him with regards to today's race, but I cannot let it go. This animal owes me nothing, and if it can reproduce that form it should win today. My only concern is that 3m 1f could possibly be just a bit too short for it.

    Best of luck everyone!

    2:45 Mansony
    3:50 Pom Flyer

Would go into detail but I have too much work on.

    Good luck!

this horse is at 5-1 as far as I can see. Did it come in, or are you finding a great price for it?

do you reckon its still a value bet at 5-1?

Wins very easily, despite two dodgy jumps at the end. Went off as the 4/6 favourite, very short price.

Ah, you're right. It was actually 11/2 when I placed the each way bet on it, not 11/1 :o My currently open bets confirms this, I did think it was 11s when I placed the bet. I guess I need time to wake up. I think it's 9/2 now, so the each way value is going.

Old flame was the front runner for most of the race but died away at the end. This is not good news for my bet in the 3.50. A crazy finish at Fairyhouse, Ruby being handed the win there.

Ransom in the 5.55. I got talking to a fella from Cork on Paddy's Day and he told me that he lived near where this horse trains and the word coming from the stable is that this horse is in great form and is worth following. There has been a bit of money for him already and will be trading at longish odds but could be worth an e/w bet in a race which has a very open look about it.

15.50 going to have a nibble on Joueur Destruval meself as he's very consistant and is a good e/w bet.(great odds a place on betfair)

Forest Leader in the 16.20 race has improved in his last couple of runs and is worth a few quid e/w.

I know! I was sure it was going to get at least third before they reached the omitted fence, that fence did no justice to it and it lost placings as a result of it trying to come up the inside.

had €30 @14-1 for the place..... would hurt less if it fell over after the first

hasn't beem too bad so far. I had a E50 double on Artist muse and Glenfinn captain and I also had an e/w bet on Joueur Destruval. I thought he had at least a place but jumped poorly at the end:(

Similar money on meself, would have made huge difference to my day.Wonder what would have happened if they jumped the last?

Jimmy boy...you must start telling us your selections before racing in future...you seem to be doing quite well. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 448 ✭✭jimmyboy

I don't really like posting my selections as I don't get inside information and I'm not nearly consistant enough for people to be following my selections.
It's a different story if I get a tip but I dont post selections as I'm just the average punter and I know as much as anyone else

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,937 ✭✭✭fade2black

Understandable Jimmy but not everyone will follow your selections first time out and generally it's bad manners to post your winners after the event....:)

You seem to be doing okay and by posting them in the morning at least you'll be selecting them based on your own thoughts rather than a horse being gambled on etc. This way you will stick with your selections.

There is a horse running tomorrow called Turko in Cheltenham. This isn't a tip but I have been watching this horse for a while and after coming out of two(quite poor) races in Cheltenham and Aintree I think you might get good value on him. His last two races were against tougher opisition so I would favour him tomorrow for at least E/W value(hopefully:o )aswell Ruby is aboard. his main worry would probably be Boychuck but he be just carrying too much weight
