    Hi,

Where's the best place in Dublin to buy a new helmet? I've got a flip-up lid at the moment but it's a bit old and fairly noisy. I'm don't want to go too mad either so prices must be reasonable.

If you buy your new helmet from the internet how do you sort out size problems? Has anybody done this?

    NiceOne

BTW .. I've been going great on my 125 after sliding it twice in the first two weeks after buying it. I'm now using bike breaks rather that moped breaks, still gonna get lessons though.

I got my newest helmet online. I tried the helmet on in a shop, and ordered the same one online, and saved a few quid.

I bought a Takachi on eBay. You just measure your head where they tell you. It fit like a glove and has served me well. Aldi still have some helmets left in some stores, helmets are fully approved.

go to bikeworld and try on every make and model of helmet for lovely nice fit.
How much is your head worth? Spend money on a lid.

I wouldnt buy a lid based on just measuring ur head. Some manufacturers are a little different, in that u a large in one brand wouldnt fit u as well in another.
For example, I tried on an AGV in XL, and it was the most uncomfortable thing i ever put on my head, yet my arai in XL is perfect.

I got mine here with a lock+chain, and a cover for t'other lock and about £20 postage all for the same price as just the helmet here

The manufacturers all have different sizes that's true, so you measure your head and follow the guidelines from there. I was right on the boundary between a M and a L, so I opted for M and it was nice and snug. If you want a branded lid then check the shops for a good fit by all means then buy it online.

Another vote for fitting in a brick and mortar shop, followed by a purchase on the net. Hein Gericke works out very cheap for me... A fraction of the price for a Schuberth Concept flip-up...

I've used the German shop a couple of times.. Prices are in Euro.. works out very cheap...

Yes cheaper, but does the head protector get bashed about in the post? Picture a van driver chucking it in the back then charging around corners, sliding the precious helmet all around the van?!?! It'll have done it's job (i.e. broken) before it gets to your head!

The package I received from HeinG was extremely well packaged..
I reckon you could have dropped it from a very tall building, and worn it afterwards, no problem.. Don't think a company like Heine Gericke would risk their reputation by using shoddy packaging and risking peoples health...

Oh and by the way, where do you think BikeWorld get their helmets from? They're delivered by truck/courier too! Might as well save yourself a few quid, or re-invest the savings by buying yourself a better helmet..
