Is that since you upgraded today?
Is one of your extensions not compatible perhaps?

download this: http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5 and this: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

you could have some malware or spyware on your pc. these programmes will get rid of them.

try running a system restore. it might bring them back.

Anyone ever have that problem in firefox where, when you're typing, the cursor jumps back one space and you end up typing nonsense?

Firefox as Gaeilge has been having a rough time of it lately. Mine updated itself about a month ago and barely worked at all. I got another update more recently, and it seems to be working fine at the moment.

no AJAX support which rules it out for me as a alternative to Firefox so you can stop coughing now

Yeah that's happened me the odd time, only when posting on boards though, never with emails or anything.
Also, sometimes when I go to post and I click in the text box, all the BIU buttons appear pressed and you've to refresh as it becomes no longer possible to enter text.
That's about all the problems I've had with firefox, there's been no freezing up or anything as of yet.

Generally its caused by a dodgy extension with code left behind or doing too much work when it should be handing back to you. Try removing one extension at a time and then reinstalling them.

    Do not install "FasterFox".

Also check to see if you have your browser set to auto-update.
