ok probably not the correct forum for a mini's game that isnt from GW, but i didnt see any other place to put this

anybody play warmachine? & anybody going to pick up some hordes this weekend?

Both gmaes are based around the Iron Kingdoms d20 game (www.privateerpress.com), i only started to get into it a few months ago, but im hooked now (damn i thought i had put away my nerd hat years ago, but alas no...)

i play the Khador faction in Warmachine, & im thinking of picking up a Skorne boxset for hordes when it comes out this weekend

If you're in/around Dublin, Warmachine has a fairly good following in the (Dublin Games) Guild. There's usually at least a couple of people playing it every week.

Not too sure about Hordes yet, but I know at least one person who plans to start on it.

hmmm, dont know if it looks better with the shoulderpads on or off, or maybe just one (sephiroth style :D)

The skin drybrushing looks savage. You could go with the one shoulderpad and then have a tatoo of somethin that the monster would want to show off on the open shoulder. I did that with my Deamon prince and it turned out savage.

i decided to go with both on this titan, but im thinking of getting a second one & giving it a more battle hardened look, broken tusk, bashed armour & maybe an amputated arm :D

I'm liking it, I'm liking it.
I've a slight obsession with making sure the base looks well too, Pile of corpses anyone?

How does WarMachine/Hordes work anyway? I've never heard of it before.

quite a good game, its very brutal :D
though warmachine & hordes are set on the same continent & use mostly the same rules they are different games, though they are meant to be able to play against each other (which really changes your playing style)

your basic models for warmachine are:
    • Warcaster - your main man, leader of his battle group & commander of your troops
    • Battlegroup - these consist of the massive steam powered warjacks (the main beatsticks of your army)
    • units - as the name states swordsmen, rifle men, flame throwing religous loonies, etc
    • solos - single figures that can be macicians, axe wielding madmen, knights with swords, etc
    • other units like artillary, crusifix's, called menofex's(sp), etc

while hordes is similar, your main characters are warlocks who can control the massive warbeasts (like the titan above), there are no battlegroups just as many warbeasts as you want, you just have to be careful as they have a nasty habbit of going into a frenzy & killing whatever they see :D

heres a link the to the quickstart rules for both games to give you an idea how they play
