    Switching to DDR2 was never going to bring uber improvements the socket change is usually done for a few reasons not just adding new memory support.

    It will be the platform for future AMD CPU's so what your looking at are just the current stuff with DDR2 so it obviously isn't terribly exciting, I don't think anyone who has a recent Athlon 64/X2 will be upgrading just for that.

    As it scales in clock speed and cores you will begin to see some better improvements.

    It's socket AM2, not core AM2. This is only a socket for a CPU, don't expect it to increase performance by more than 10% (unless you're using an extremely bandwidth heavy app that benefits from DDR2).

    It isn't worth switching if you already own an socket 939 rig, but if you are buying new, then AM2 is the way forwards. New chips will be using that socket, not the 939 socket
