    Dear all

Ive read a few bits and pieces about the view of the 1916 parade, i took part in the parade yesterday but am trying to get my hands on a few photos, hopefully with my unit in it.

I was in the Guard of Honour outside the GPO, if anyone has any snaps or stumbled accross them can they please post the links to them here or PM me or post the images here.

    It would be much appreciated!

    Cheers

    Ben

It went really well. Wonder if they will make it an annual thing? My dad was involved with the organisation of the parade and said it went without a hitch!

You might get better feedback from thread "Easter Sunday/ 2006" thats where most of the 1916 posts are! Not that I support the Parade for one moment Ben (I am very anti ~ Easter 1916 commerations) but still, have a go with thread and you might get a better responce.

    Thanks Arthur F

Im happy enough with the link to IMO but if people have their own photos.

I have read the threads on here about the for or against. Its simply a thread to find good photos and footage of one of the biggest days in my military career (so far). I take your point and help , thanks.

Hey b3n, did you get any freebies for doing the parade yesterday?

Was in the FCA(reserves or whatever these days) until ~5 years ago and all we got for parades was a dinner :(

I can't help you unfortunately, but congratulations: it looked great, and I'd say it felt great too. :D

There's a vast thread over on www.militaryphotos.net entitled "Irish military photos"- http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2931
It's been on the go since September 2003, and is still going strong!

The 1916 Parade stuff starts at post #844, somewhere around page 43- http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2931&page=43

There are also some pictures in the "Today's Pics" thread for Sunday, April 16, 2006- http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=78545

    BANDWIDTH WARNING!
These threads are HEAVY with pictures, so the bandwidth challenged among us may experience some delays.

    Hi Ben

I took a rake of photos that day but none at the gpo unfortunately. If anyone from any of the other units is looking for photos pm me and I will forward them on.

    Nice of you to notice.

Not easy to march in time when the front of the Guard Of Honour was marching off to the sound of the band as played from the speakers on the big screen and the rear was marching off to the sound of the band itself. The middle was in "no-bands" land and there was a slight delay between the live actual band and the speakers sound.

Excuses, Excuses. The difference wasn't a full pace out.

That doesn't excuse the right hand rank veering off course midway through the rank.

Hey hey hey! relax, Im only telling you what the PDF Cmdt CO told us back in McKee.

Personally I was disgusted, I was down near the rear and the two columns looked shambolic, even worse on TV. It was a shame considering the rest of the GOH drill was impecible, some soldiers will never learn to march in a straight line.
